What was the journey? We took an old and dated 80’s bike, famous for being the choice for couriers back in the 80’s and early 90’s – they were never really liked but were trusted and reliable. The challenge was to build something that still had some of its heritage but with a new dynamic.
What was the donor? This CX500 was imported from California in 2018, it was in near perfect condition with zero corrosion and very low mileage. The intention was to build this into a Brat style bike but keeping some of its unmistakable identity, such as the mag wheels and beautifully shaped fuel tank.
What were the interesting details of the journey? Hiding all of the electrics was a bit of a head-scratch, we achieved it by trying to keep things minimal and under the seat so as not to look too cluttered. Then came the tool bag, thankfully battery technology has progressed a very long way as we were able to hide most things in there. The motogadget clock hides itself really well in the CNC’d handlebar cover / clamp, with the aid of a complete rewire we managed to reduce a lot of weight and gain much needed space.
What is the destination? The NS-CX02 is now a proper Brat and no longer the ugly duckling
