We selected the R80RT for the NS-R01 build, the typical 80’s RT styling made it the perfect donor, the first port of call was a serious diet as the fairing and panniers gave it the aerodynamics of a London bus.
The donor was a low mileage machine so the motor was simply fully serviced including valve clearances, a new clutch was fitted and she was good to go. We wanted to keep lots of originality about the bike but couldn’t resist converting it to a central mono rear suspension.
There’s not much to say here, Naked! Of course we opted for retaining the beautiful lines of the original tank but along with the Vonzeti seat unit painted in a candy brown with contrasting black, we like to refer to the brown as a deep chocolate 😉
Having fully tested the bike before and after, what a transformation, simply losing all the weight would make a substantial difference but along with the rear suspension, being fully serviced and tuned was like a completely different animal.
